OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The White County Sheriff's Department is a public safety agency dedicated to the fundamental mission of law enforcement and adult detention services for White County. Mission accomplishment is centered on providing response to calls for law enforcement services, preventive patrol, public assistance, criminal investigations, and other special services such as search and rescue and civil process. The mission also includes the safe, secure, and humane detention of all arrestees charged with crimes in White County, Illinois.
The White County Sheriff's Department is committed to the advanced strategies of community policing and the direct supervision management of its detention facility. Both concepts involve the establishment of dynamic partnerships with citizens, communities, and other civic and criminal justice agencies working together toward common goals. The White County Sheriff's Department will continue to be a leader and facilitator in attaining the goals to overcome and solve community problems with innovative ideas on crime prevention, proactive inmate management strategies, and public safety resulting in lasting solutions, reduced fear, and a better life for the residents of White County.

About Sheriff Jordan Weiss
Sheriff Jordan Weiss is a White County native who graduated NCOE in 2010 and continued his education at Southern Illinois College where he graduated with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. He started part time in the White County Jail as a corrections officer in the summer of 2012. Sheriff Weiss was hired full time by retired White County Sheriff Doug Maier as a narcotics investigator with the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force in July 2014. He graduated from the Police Training Institute and as a certified narcotics investigator, he assisted in State and Federal narcotics investigations, murder investigations and manhunts for wanted and violent felons. He assisted the US Marshals Service, ATF, FBI and DEA in many cases during his time on the task force. Sheriff Weiss moved to the position of uniformed Deputy for White County in March 2020. He currently holds numerous training certifications and at the time of the 2022 election had over eleven years of law enforcement experience. The Sheriff is responsible for operating the White County Jail, providing a safe and secure place to house offenders, he is responsible for court security, dispatch services and service of legal and civil documents. The mission of the White County Sheriff’s Department is to uphold the Constitution, lead the fight to reduce crime and prevent injustice, enforce laws fairly, and secure and promote safety in all our communities.
Sheriff Weiss was elected to the position of White County Sheriff in 2022. He has dedicated his career to the service and protection of his community and serves the citizens of White County with honor, respect and integrity.
