STOLEN VEHICLE (6-7-2019)
On 6-7-19 at 4:34am White County Dispatch advised arresting officer Sheriff Doug Maier of a vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Wayne County that was currently being tracked by gps in the Centerville area. Deputy Spencer was called out and Sheriff Maier responded. The truck was a 2016 White GMC pickup.

Dispatch advised the vehicle was now in the Crossville area and advised the suspects in the vehicle had attempted to break into a bank in Mt. Vernon, IL and had been involved in a pursuit with Mt. Vernon, IL police. At approximately 4:50 am Sheriff Maier located a vehicle on a dead end road at the end of County Road 1200E just South of County Road 1925N. The vehicle matched the description and had several occupants inside the vehicle. Sheriff Maier approached vehicle as a felony stop, weapon drawn and observed three subjects in the vehicle, one in the drivers seat, one in the passenger seat and one in the rear seat. Sheriff Maier spoke to the driver of the vehicle later identified as JUVENILE. He appeared to be very nervous after determining Sheriff was law enforcement. He did not attempt to take off but appeared to be debating this. Sheriff Maier reached inside the vehicle and turned vehicle off, taking the keys from the ignition.

Deputy Spencer arrived in scene and he and Sheriff Maier took all three subjects from the vehicle and secured them in handcuffs and placed them in squad car.

Driver of the vehicle JUVENILE advised they were just road tripping and this was his uncles vehicle. He advised Sheriff Maier that he was on parole and this would cause him to be revoked. JUVENILE was checked out with Dept of Corrections and they showed a warrant and hold for JUVENILE.

Deputy Spencer transported all three subjects to the White County Jail. Mt. Vernon, IL Police Dept was notified and was advised an investigator would be enroute to interview the suspects and Dept of Corrections were enroute to take possession of JUVENILE.
