Missing Animals (1-30-2015)
The White County Sheriff's Department has had several reports of missing/possibly stolen dogs during the past week.
Report of missing animals include a red Pit Bull from the Epworth area, a black and white Pit Bull from the Brownsville area, a male gray Pit Bull from the Norris City area, and a Siberian Husky from the Centerville area.
We had a report of a brown Chevrolet mini-van with a female driver traveling on Epworth Blacktop with side door open and trying to get a pit bull dog inside the vehicle last week.
Please contact the White County Sheriff's Department if you can provide any information. A reward of $250.00 is offered for information leading to recovery and arrest in this matter. Additional rewards have been offered by the owners of some of the animals.

BOMB THREAT (11-21-2014)
WHITE COUNTY DISPATCH RECEIVED A CALL FROM JOHNSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AT 7:34 A.M. ADVISED THEY HAD RECEIVED A CALL AND WERE ADVISED THERE WAS A BOMB IN THE WHITE COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND ALSO IN THE SALINE COUNTY COURTHOUSE. THE CALLER GAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION.
THE WHITE COUNTY COURTHOUSE HAS BEEN EVACUATED AND THE SURROUNDING STREETS INCLUDING ROUTE 1 HAVE BEEN CLOSED. ALL COURT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE DAY.
THE SECRETARY OF STATE BOMB SQUAD WAS NOTIFIED AND WILL PROVIDE A CANINE UNIT TO CLEAR THE COURTHOUSE.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY TO TRACK THE PHONE USED TO MAKE THE THREAT. SALINE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESS.
OFFICERS FROM CARMI POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ALSO WAS ASSISTING.

Recovered Stolen Vehicles (10-30-2014)
THE WHITE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS RECOVERED A 2000 FORD F250 WHICH HAD BEEN REPORTED STOLEN BY WAYNE BOZARTH OF 540 HILLSDALE LANE, VIENNA, IL ON OCTOBER 28, 2014. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED ON COUNTY ROAD 2350N / 1650 EAST, JUST SOUTH OF INTERSTATE I-64.
THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE LOCATION AND ILLINOIS STATE POLICE CRIME SCENE WILL PROCESS THE VEHICLE.
THE WHITE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ALSO RECOVERED BOTH 4-WHEELERS THAT WERE REPORTED STOLEN BY JAMES TAYLOR OF 921 COUNTY ROAD 2550N, BURNT PRAIRIE, IL. TWO HONDA 4-TRAX 4-WHEELERS WERE RECOVERED, ONE IN CARMI AND ONE IN HAMILTON COUNTY.
A HAMILTON COUNTY TOWNSHIP TRUCK WAS ALSO RECOVERED ON I-64 IN WHITE COUNTY.
TWO 17 YEAR OLD JUVENILE MALE SUBJECTS WERE INTERVIEWED. STATEMENTS INDICATED THAT THE TWO WERE INVOLVED IN THE STOLEN VEHICLE FROM HAMILTON COUNTY, AND THE THEFT OF THE TWO 4-WHEELERS FROM BURNT PRAIRIE.
A TIP TO THE WHITE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE LED TO THE ARREST AND LOCATION OF THE VEHICLES.
WHITE COUNTY STATES ATTORNEY DENTON AUD WILL FILE FORMAL CHARGES. BOTH JUVENILE SUBJECTS WERE PLACED IN CUSTODY AND TRANSPORTED TO FRANKLIN COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER.
THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING AT THIS TIME

BURNT PRAIRIE INCIDENT (10-30-2014)
THE WHITE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECEIVED A CALL AT 3:01 P.M. ON 10/29/2014 IN REFERENCE TO A MAN WITH A GUN AT 211 CHURCH ST, BURNT PRAIRIE, IL. CALLER ADVISED THE SUBJECT WAS THREATENING TO HARM HIMSELF.
SHERIFF DOUG MAIER, SGT CRAIG POOLE, AND SGT BYRD HUBER RESPONDED TO THE LOCATION. CARMI K-9 UNIT DUSTIN BUTTRY ALSO RESPONDED.
AT THE RESIDENCE A MALE SUBJECT WAS INSIDE THE RESIDENCE ALONE WITH A HANDGUN. SUBJECT WAS THREATENING TO COMMIT SUICIDE. SUBJECT ADVISED IF ANYONE CAME INTO THE RESIDENCE HE WOULD SHOOT THEM. A FAMILY MEMBER HAD WENT INTO FRONT PART OF RESIDENCE BUT HAD TO RETREAT. SUBJECT HAD BROKEN CELL PHONE SO NO COMMUNICATION COULD BE MADE.
AT ONE POINT A SINGLE GUNSHOT WAS HEARD FROM THE RESIDENCE. THIS WAS ABOUT 4:45 P.M. SHORTLY AFTER THE SHOT THE MALE SUBJECT EXITED THE RESIDENCE AND WAS ON THE PORCH AREA. SUBJECT WAS ORDERED TO RAISE HANDS, AND AFTER AN ALTERCATION WITH OFFICERS, THE SUBJECT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. SUBJECT DID NOT HAVE A FIREARM AT THIS TIME. THE FIREARM WAS LOCATED IN THE BEDROOM AREA WHERE ONE SHOT HAD BEEN FIRED INTO THE FLOOR OF BEDROOM.
SUBJECT WAS TRANSPORTED TO FAIRFIELD HOSPITAL BY WHITE COUNTY AMBULANCE. HE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE INJURED IN ANY WAY. NO CRIMINAL CHARGES, SUBJECT RELEASED TO CUSTODY OF FAIRFIELD HOSPITAL.

JEFF PARKER ARREST (10-24-2014)
DURING THE DETAIL INVOLVING THE ARREST OF JEFF PARKER FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE AMONG OTHER CHARGES A MEMBER OF THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WAS STUCK BY A NEEDLE THAT PARKER HAD IN HIS POSSESSION.
MEDICAL CARE WAS OBTAINED FOR THE DEPUTY, WITH CONTINUING TESTS TO COME LATER.
WE TAKE GREAT PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING BUT SOMETIMES IS UNAVOIDABLE. OUR CONCERNS ARE WITH THE DEPUTY AND HOPE FOR A POSITIVE OUTCOME.
